Greasy Grits pole bean

$4.00

Phaseolus vulgaris. A well loved Appalachian variety of pole bean that can be eaten green as a snap bean with incredible smooth, nutty flavor; or harvested as a dried bean and eaten in stews all winter long. The ‘greasy’ name comes from the bean pod’s uniquely smooth texture. 90 days to maturity as a dry bean. It loves the Southern Oregon heat in summer when other pole beans wither, and can be planted as late as June. Prolific. Requires trellising. 90 days.
