Peredovik sunflower

Helianthus anuus. Heirloom Russian oilseed sunflower. Semi-dwarf (4-5 ft) stalks quickly produce large heads rich in oily black-hulled seeds loved by birds. A great forage crop for turkeys, rabbits, quail and more. Can be planted as a fast growing cover crop to smother noxious weeds and build impressive amounts of biomass, improving soil while attracting beneficials. They are of course also ornamental, making an attractive garden border. 50 days.
